About this event

This is not drama school. This is not art class. This is your space to play!

Join a unique journey of creative discovery fusing improvisational theatre techniques with free-flow art marking.

Why this combination?

Both improv. and free-flow art:

Rely on spontaneous creation

Encourage creative expression, experimentation and play

Require a deep presence in the moment, or "flow state"

Embrace uncertainty and imperfection

Focus on process over output

Require flexibility and adaptability

Boost collaboration in group settings

Each in different ways. In practicing both visual and performing arts, we employ a deeper-reaching, more holistic approach. We integrate the verbal, somatic and visual, engage both sides of the brain, learn more about ourselves, and access our subconscious in new ways. It's also - fun!

This is for you if you are looking for a sensitive space to:

Build creative confidence and self-trust

Explore new forms of expression

Connect with your inner artist

Work through creative blocks

Improve communication, collaboration and adaptability

Find physical, social and manual relief from devices

Let go of perfectionism and overthinking

Relieve stress and boost dopamine :)

Workshops begin with a mindful arrival and music, movement and beginner-friendly improv. games, transitioning into free-flow play with a range of art materials (clay, collage, paint, pastels and more). In a closing ritual, you will have the opportunity to share your artworks, reflections and learnings.

The series is designed with beginners, sensitive folks and introverts in mind, and open to all those curious to explore their creativity (no previous experience needed). Activities are always voluntary.

Improv. Art Club runs for 6 weeks, from 7-9pm on Tuesdays. Join for one workshop or join weekly for the full experience! We maintain a small group size for a personalised, supportive environment.

Workshops are in English and take place at a cosy hidden gem art gallery in Campo de Ourique (O Gabinete de Madame Thao).

Package option: save 40€ with 15% off if you book the full programme in advance. Email us at improvartclub@gmail.com with your full name, and we will send you the discount code.
