Portugal faces an uncertain future today. With the recent fall of the Government and the subsequent dissolution of Parliament, the Portuguese people find themselves plunged into a deep political crisis, preparing to vote for the third legislative elections in just over three years.
More than ever, building a democracy that is both fully representative and capable of producing lasting and transformative political solutions is a major challenge - just as navigating a rapidly changing world is, where alliances break, international consensus is scarce, and the era of peace is quickly fading.
In this context, Portugal needs leadership with a clear vision and undeniable capability. The role of Head of State is central in shaping this promising future - not only because of the guiding position it holds in Portuguese society and, more specifically, in its political system, but also due to the constitutional responsibilities entrusted to it.
Therefore, Nova SBE Students' Union is pleased to launch a series of discussions titled "Portugal e o Futuro". Through this initiative, we aim to engage with key figures from Portuguese politics and society to explore the challenges of our collective future and the importance of the presidential role in overcoming them.
Our idea is to promote a relaxed and open conversation, structured into two moments: an initial expository segment followed by an interactive session with room for audience questions. This discussion will take place on April 15th at 6:30 PM on the Jerónimo Martins Grand Auditorium.
