Drawing on the perspective developed in his recently published open-access book, Mark Carrigan will explore the core challenges AI is creating for higher education and possible paths forward. The session will invite us to look beyond individual applications and consider the broader institutional and strategic questions AI raises for universities, academic practice, and teaching.

The keynote will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Leid Zejnilovic, Catarina Holstein, and João Filipe, who will bring complementary perspectives to the conversation, connecting these wider questions to the Nova SBE context and exploring their implications for teaching, learning, and institutional transformation. The session will also include an opportunity for audience discussion.
